Early Life
I was born in Wyoming and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado by two, now retired, middle school teachers. My younger sister and I grew up enjoying all the benefits of Colorado and were heavily involved with youth and competitive sports. If we weren’t outside playing a pick-up game, riding our bikes or running through the sprinklers with the neighborhood kids, we could be found floating down the river, camping & fishing on the Grand Mesa or boating at Lake Powell. After graduating high school, I moved to Golden, Colorado to attend college.
Education
I graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Civil Specialty and a Minor in Economics & Business. During my time at Mines, I was able to secure multiple summer internships in varying industries, but I received my first taste of construction with a mining company I worked for in Hibbing, MN. I was tasked with monitoring the progress of multiple upstream earth dams and quickly realized I had a desire to be involved with taking nothing and making it into something.
Professional Career
I started my professional career with another mid-sized general contractor here in the Denver metro area and worked for them for 13 years. I started as an entry level field engineer, wore multiple hats throughout my career there and eventually landed as a project manager. Much of my experience is with affordable housing and multi-family construction, with some solar and historical building construction thrown into the mix. From there I went to a smaller general contractor looking to establish themselves in the Denver market. I spent almost 3 years there as a project executive overseeing various tenant finish and adaptive reuse projects located in Denver and Detroit, MI. I came to FP because I realized I wanted to work on projects that make a difference in communities. FP provides opportunities to do just that, and I’m elated to be part of a team who prioritizes and supports these types of impactful projects.
Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with family and friends (and friends that are family) doing whatever suits our fancy—I will never turn down an adventure with good company. Many of my hobbies are sports related or revolve around sporting events. I love to play golf any chance I get, and I play in an adult coed softball league during the summers. I will watch just about any sport that is on, but my teams are the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies and if I had to pick a college team it would be the Ohio State Buckeyes (my mom is from Ohio). I’m a sucker for live music and concerts, especially if the weather is nice and the venue is outside. I also enjoy cooking and entertaining at my house with my dog, Kona.
