This new 76,000 sq ft facility is located near the Fitzsimmons Medical campus in Aurora. The three-story house provides a comfortable atmosphere where children can stay with family members and focus on getting well. Holding 45 guest style bed/bathroom spaces, the facility has several kitchens, play areas and rooms for sitting, games, televisions and computers. Offices and conference rooms are also included for building administration.
During the project’s design phase Fransen Pittman collaborated closely with the architect to identify and incorporate value engineering alternatives for building systems. The estimating team found more than $700,000 of savings in the schematic design phase alone. This savings allowed The Ronald McDonald House to reassign funds, alter the design and increase the new House’s capacity by 12.5 percent, or five more family suites.
