Completed in December of 2021, the three-story, 106,000 square foot Welcome Center is all-encompassing. Crafted with Aims community input, the building features two main forms that converge around a central courtyard. These forms are connected by a monumental roof overhang accented with a red band that pays homage to the school’s signature color.
The south segment of the building houses student services including admissions, enrollment, financial aid, and advising. Driven by a desire to host large-scale events, the building’s north segment features a 1,600 seat auditorium with overhead skyboxes and a bi-fold glass hangar that opens to an outdoor courtyard complete with sound and lighting. The building’s north side also holds executive conference rooms, an 800 capacity banquet-style ballroom, professional catering kitchen, and patios with sweeping views of the Front Range. Throughout the Welcome Center, visitors can congregate in spaces of various sizes, explore rooftop decks, or download campus information from the 16-by-9-foot video wall in the entry lobby. The facility transcends expectations, even featuring radiant heated sidewalks to melt winter ice and snow.
The Aims Community College Welcome Center is the first building students enter to register for classes and where they make their final walk across stage at graduation. The facility is a tangible representation of Aims’ founding mission to “aim for high and worthy goals.”
