Originally built in the 1970s, the Hyland Hills (formerly Carroll Butts) Athletic/Recreation Center is jointly operated by the City of Westminster and the Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District. Fransen Pittman is currently engaged in the renovation and construction of building additions, with project completion set for the first quarter of 2023.
The primary goal of the project is to convert the center into a modern recreation facility with a few core program features. The indoor turf space in the existing structure will be replaced and a new gymnastics center with an elevated spectator seating area. Accompanying this aspect of the renovation will be new community meeting rooms, a dance/performance space, lobby, concessions, and support spaces.
Other improvements to the existing facility will include updates to the interior organization of the building, and modifications to the exterior walls and roofs to improve energy efficiency. The HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems will also be updated.
In addition to improvements to the existing center, the project includes the addition of approximately 17,000 SF of new construction attached to the north side of the existing building. The new program spaces will include a two (2) court gymnasium, circulation, and other support spaces.
