April 28th was a big day of donations from Fransen Pittman’s Crocs job site to the CITC apprentices.
Currently, the FP team is working on a tenant improvement project for a new Crocs HQ. Before demo of the existing building's interior could begin, the old office furniture and supplies that occupied the space needed to be picked up and taken to the landfill. According to FP Superintendent, Zech Sena, much of the furniture was salvageable- which sparked an idea. Why not donate the furniture instead of sending it to the dump?!
The Construction Industry Training Council (CITC), a four-year work experience program of which FP sponsors, has long been in need of new classroom furniture. Many current FP employees are CITC grads, and the program holds a special place in their hearts. Repurposing the supplies for CITC apprentices seemed to be the perfect match. With the coordination from CITC and the Fransen Pittman team, the furniture found its new home.
FP Foreman, Casey Weekley, and Inventory and Warehouse Administrator, Jennifer Markley, as well as Cori Gerlitz, Executive Director of CITC, were able to plan this move quickly and efficiently. Through their collaboration, multiple truckloads of chairs, worktables, conference tables, work benches, projectors, projection screens, dry erase boards, filing cabinets, shelving, and desks were delivered to CITC.
Zech Sena had this to say: “Yesterday showed what our company and culture is all about. We planned and executed together to better our community. I am very happy that we were able to reuse and find a home for this furniture.”
A special thank you to Richard Sykes, Gary Garihan, Josh Dickerson, Braxton Potter, Devin Schuetsz, Alex Garcia, Fernando Rangle, Mike Dennis and Alex Rivas for all your help!
