AUC-1: Northrop Grumman AUC-1 is a facility that serves as the Northrop’s headquarters in Aurora containing 400 employees. Northrop Grumman AUC-1 was built with precast concrete wall panels, along with precast twin tees, that create the envelope and allow long spans without columns for a flexible floor plan.
AUC-6: Northrop Grumman Space and Electronics Systems needed offices, training rooms, and computer room space for 350 new employees who were working on a major new contract with critical deadlines. Northrop purchased an existing building with limited mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The challenge was to gut the existing interior and complete the first half of the building in 12 weeks. The second phase of the project included working in an occupied setting. Fransen Pittman carefully phased the work to minimize disruption to workers. AUC–6 was finished on time and under budget.
AUC-9: Northrop Grumman AUC-9 is a three-story architectural precast facility containing 35,000 SF of computer room and a 300-seat auditorium, that serves as a major software development center. A raised computer floor on the first level was added to the main facility. Northrop Grumman AUC-9 contains more than 200 miles of data cable, over 165 miles of optic cable, extensive rooftop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
