What a night at the Colorado AGC ACE Awards! Fransen Pittman was proud to take home Silver π₯ in the General Contractor Projects $10β40M category for our work on Carlson Elementary School in Idaho Springs. π
Once a vacant brutalist structure in Idaho Springs, the former Clear Creek secondary school has been transformed into a vibrant home for Carlson Elementary. Built in 1969 and closed in 2002, the building sat unused for over 20 years until community advocacy and a capital bond made its revival possible.
The building underwent a complete renovation, preserving historic character while addressing extensive challenges: full abatement, utility and mechanical replacements, roof and site work. Today, the 71,252 SF school features flexible, collaborative spaces designed for expeditionary learning, blending modern functionality with its storied past.
